Oasis’ first ever demo and Stone Roses items up for auction

Omega Auctions in Stockport will be selling a selection of rare music memorabilia including Stone Roses and Oasis demos.

The auction will take place later this month and will see a number of demo recordings being sold as well as Northern Soul rarities.

One of the items up for grabs is Oasis’ first demo on cassette. The demo is widely reported as being recorded in Liverpool, with scouse band The Real People. Noel Gallagher has dedicated songs to the band and its front man Tony Griffiths, once referring to them as The Real Oasis. The demo is complete with hand written lyrics from Noel and is expected to go for an estimated £1,000 – £1,500.

The auction will see Stone Roses demos for unreleased track ‘Sun Still Shines’ and versions of ‘Going Down’ and ‘Elephant Stone’ going for around £2,000-£3,000.

If that’s a bit on the expenno side, a rare promo cassette of Definitely Maybe is estimated to come in at around £200-£300.
