Omarion to headline first Musicalize of 2015

Musicalize, the UK’s fastest growing live music showcase event, have announced that US R&B sensation Omarion will be headlining their first event of the year. The event will take place at KOKO in Camden, London on Monday 16th March 2015.

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, dancer and actor Omarion, stood as frontman for the young pop-R&B group B2K from 1999 through to their 2004 split. With him as their lead singer, the group scored five top 20 hits, as well as a platinum selling album. After filming the movie You Got Served in January 2004, Omarion embarked on a solo career which saw his debut album O and follow up 21 hit the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with the prior also being nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Contemporary R&B Album.

After a series of mixtapes, EPs, joining the official Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood cast on VH1 and guest appearances on assorted releases with Rick Ross’s MMG collective, Omarion released Sex Playlist at the end of 2014, proving just why the singer still remains at the forefront of R&B.

Musicalize Director Sophie Anderson comments on the Omarion booking: “We’re really excited to have Omarion perform on the Musicalize stage. It’s been a while since he’s been over to the UK for a full concert so we can’t wait to have him performing tracks from his new album Sex Playlistalong with some classic Omarion tracks from his extensive back catalogue. It’s going to be a great night.”

Alongside Omarion, there will be some special guests and support acts who will be announced in the coming weeks. Following its tradition of shining a spotlight on emerging UK talent, Musicalize will also continue to run its unsigned competition, giving the winner a chance to perform on the night as the opening slot. Full details of the competition will be announced soon, so watch this space!
