One To Watch: Ned Dylan

Defining teenage riot, fourteen year old Ned Dylan is already making one hell of a noise and it’s being heard. With famous faces exclaiming how “one day we’ll all be talking about when we met Ned”, the pre-adolescent already has fans in Emmy The Great, Alabama Shakes and Huey Morgan, so it’s no surprise his debut single ‘Disco’ is being received to high acclaim.

Full of witty lyricisms which mock the values of modern day youth culture, Ned’s created a track that’s relatable and, most importantly, full of fun. The punk-influenced guitar riffs wreak havoc beneath his mischievous vocals which, as much as they’re passionate and angsty, still confess a sense of innocence.

The lively music video which accompanies ‘Disco’ sees Ned trying to drink a beer which is inevitably snatched away. He’s not ashamed or trying to hide his age and, if anything, producing a track of this standard at such a young age is definitely something to be proud of.

It would certainly seem Ned Dylan has set himself on the right course with stints lined up at Bestival this weekend, and having even scored a set at Glastonbury in the past. He’s an artist with a lot of promise and certainly one to keep a close eye on.

Featuring Les ‘Fruitbat’ Carter (Carter USM) on lead guitar, ‘Disco’ is due for release on September 18.
