ONES TO WATCH: Beach Fatigue

Beach Fatigue are a 5 piece garage-rock band hailing from the Welsh shores of Swansea. Previously known as Heavy Petting Zoo, Amy Zachariah, Ben Rodway, Joe Rees, Billy Horwood, and Jon have changed their name, but remained faithful to their aggressive, garage-rock sound – something fans both old and new will be glad to hear.

The band are receiving recognition from multiple indie blogs and radio stations, and recently recorded a split single – ‘Isabelle’ – with the awesome Welsh-based three piece, The Joy Formidable. They have also played a string of live shows, and have appeared at Green Man, and Reading & Leeds festivals. Beach Fatigue will return to the stage at Swn Festival in November this year, shortly after the release of their new single ‘Drunken Grrrls’.

‘Drunken Grrrls’ is an ode to the spirit of the modern girl who is equal parts defiant, dysfunctional and delightful. This song was written for Grrrls (and boys) who thrive under the strobe lights on a Friday night, and ultimately suffer the hungover consequences. Fortunately, Beach Fatigue’s waves of garage/surf rock are there to help you ride out the liquor-induced pain.

Whilst the change in name implies exhaustion, there’s nothing tired about Beach Fatigue’s sound. The only fatigue you’ll suffer is the adrenaline come down after thrashing around to their infectiously aggressive songs. If you’re a fan of riot grrrl-style vocals and loud guitar, Beach Fatigue are the band you need to listen to.

Also – if the line “and yes, they still have that dancer” doesn’t peak your interest…what will?

‘Drunken Grrrls’ is released 30th October 2015 via Kool Girl Records.
