ONES TO WATCH: Fawn Spots

Since their birth in 2011, York trio Fawn Spots have been offering their vigorous, relentless punk-orientated rock that simply refuses to rest.

Although the name may be one that hasn’t figured in the mentality of many before, Fawn Spots have been receiving acclaim from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Record Collector magazine of late, their new endeavours offering an exciting prospect for your ears to feast on.

From Safer Place is Fawn Spots’ debut LP, which is set for release on March 9th on Critical Heights. The sounds of the album itself propose a sense of re-enlightenment and a step away from the samey-samey punk-based offerings found throughout the world of current music. Alongside the traditional pace of the genre, Fawn Spots merge brave subject matter and thought provoking exploration of thoughts that many would find daunting – such as, as one grows older, the greater the distance of safety and security becomes, hence the name of the album. A unique take on the usual punk-rock theme that proves that this trio are most certainly ones to watch this year.

Having just completed a tour with Seattle-based band, Naomi Punk, the band have been gaining some live experience, and relishing in it. You can catch Fawn Spots live across a few dates in the UK:

Guilty By Association, Manchester – March 9th

Birthdays (free album launch party), London – March 10th

Nation Of Shopkeepers, Leeds – March 11th

The Great Gatsby, Sheffield – March 13th

York City Rowing Club, York – March 14th
