Ones To Watch and Video Premiere: Between Mockingbirds

With Garage-Rock overtones throughout their music and heavy inspirations from the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, Between Mockingbirds are able to produce tracks like ‘Do You’ which successfully bring them to the forefront of ones to watch for 2015.

‘Do You’ holds similar aspects to the ever-popular American Garage-Rock sound but doesn’t shy away from bringing in guitar chords that hold an Emo-Indie/Jazz feel to them, as so heavily demonstrated by American Football in the ’90s. Having formed in 2012, the single shows that the quartet have quickly latched on to a sound that compliments the vocals of Michael Davitt but showcases the grungy tinge to their music that results from the minds of Josh Fletcher (Bass), William Matthews (Guitar) and Lewis Tollan (Drums). Although they’re likely to draw in fans of Cloud Nothings and Dinosaur Jr, it’s easy to predict a fan-base that builds solely on their own credit.

Forming in East Kilbride, a short distance from Glasgow, Between Mockingbirds are able to take inspiration from events such as the Scottish Referendum, allowing the band to create a politically motivated single and show a strong passion to what they believe in. This is what has driven ‘Do You’ to become a hard-faced track from a band of the future.

With references to the Scottish referendum, from a ‘Yes’ voter’s perspective, here is the brand new video for ‘Do You’:
