Ones To Watch: Siracuse

An exceptionally gifted trio from Cheltenham have gathered to form the fame-deserving band, Siracuse. Consisting of Ben Zakotti, Matt Jefferies and Will Hall, this band has no limits. Categorising their music under multiple genres -reverb, shoegaze, indie and rock ‘n’ roll – Siracuse have the potential to have an ever-changing, unique sound, with a huge fan base as a result.

Their new track ‘Forever’ resembles both the echoed vocals and the stressed, yet funky, bass of Tame Impala. With a shift in sound, their vocals switch from Kevin Parker to Liam Gallagher in their ‘New Waters’, backed by a rich, purified sounding guitar in comparison.

‘Blue’ acts as an unanticipated track, primarily tranquil (though an evident crescendo is present within the track), it transcends their sound to another level. Such a contrast in sound within each track only highlights both the talent and potential this band hold. ‘Sleepwalkers’ has elements of the Manchester bands, with a mix of quirky Stone Roses instruments and tones, among the early Brown and Ryder inspired vocals.

Hopefully, this year will see upcoming work and festival appearances from this undoubtedly talented, multi-genre band. So, maybe 2016 will be the year for Siracuse – keep a look out for this unique, multi-talented trio.
