Ones To Watch: Springh

Springh, a grunge pop duo from London have just released their debut single ‘Silhouette’, and it’s one not to be missed. The track’s concise sound is down to the chemistry within the band. Guitarist Sam Swift-Glasman and violinist Lisa Sara Jenkin first met in London, but began their musical career together whilst travelling in Central and South America. Now back in London, the pair initially joined a folk collective and enjoyed a few years touring local venues in the capital city. However, Springh was formed when the two found their true grunge rock spirit and decided to show it to the world.

‘Silhouette’ is bursting with energy throughout:  raucous guitar forms the base of this huge track, whilst crashing cymbals and drum fills explode through the incredible wall of sound already produced. ‘Silhouette’ keeps the course throughout; it’s incredibly catchy and overwhelmingly exhilarating, due to the sheer tempo of the riffs and melody. The bridge provides a well-deserved rest towards the end of the track, where the violin provides soft string timbres and sweet release before the oncoming wave of loud drums and bass hits you once more. Jenkin’s vocals are more prominent in this final send-off of the song as the duo comes together at last: when the two vocalists harmonise as one, it’s almost as though the last piece of the puzzle is put in place and everything makes sense. Springh are definitely one to watch, and with even more stunning violin melodies oozing from Jenkin, there may be something uniquely special on the horizon.
