Ones To Watch: Time For T

In their own world where genre seems to be a fluid concept, Time For T pack a rather astonishing amount of influences into their four and a half minute song, ‘Long Day Home’. Ranging from folk to rock, with even a little reggae, the rather broad category of ‘alternative’ may be the word best used to describe this band’s sound.

Hailing from Brighton, this six-piece outfit’s latest offering was written during their inaugural touring sessions across Europe, and the taste of sunnier climes is incredibly tangible on lead single ‘Long Day Home’. What starts off as a sparkling, folk-rock track suddenly goes off on a tangent, and quickly turns into something slinkier, reminiscent of those shadowy early hours, and sees frontman Tiago Saga croon ‘Nights filled with music / And drink, smoke and money’, conjuring up images of classy bars in old black-and-white films. Not content with this departure alone, the end of the track sees tropical, world-music vibes make an appearance, with the added use of Spanish in the lyrics to boot.

It’s a testament to the band’s musicianship and talent that each twist and turn seems to flow seamlessly into the next, so that something that perhaps shouldn’t work, nonetheless does. Saga’s vocals distinctly resemble those of The Kooks’ Luke Pritchard (perhaps it’s something in the Brighton water), and takes each digression in his stride, providing the only constant in an ever changing track. Producing a strikingly eclectic sound, Time For T are a vibrant new act, with hints of a vibrant future.
