Ones To Watch: White Room

After dominating all the indie stages at festivals this year, Brighton’s psychedelic heroes are taking the underground band scene by storm.

After releasing their single ‘Think Too Much’, White Room caught the eye of the legendary club night This Feeling, and since have been playing their shows across the country, and even bagging themselves a slot at This Feeling’s 10th anniversary show.

Combining the delay heavy guitar lines of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and POND’s reverb-filled vocals, White Room have cooked up a really tasty aesthetic for our ears. Their debut single includes clever lyrics and a lovely little wood groove, giving you the feeling that if you saw this band for the first time live in a pub you would feel like you’ve been listening to them for years.

When you see these guys live, they put on a good show and I mean REALLY put on good show. Lead vocalist Jake Smallwood channels vibes of Ian Brown, while the rest of the band do incredibly good impressions of John Frusciante, grabbing new and old crowds by the eyeballs and getting them up on their feet and moshing.

White Room are showcasing some really cool psychedelic sounds in their music, I’m just surprised that I’m listening to an awesome psychedelic band that doesn’t include Kevin Parker!

White Room’s new single ‘Stole the I.V’ is out 18 November.
