We aren’t even through Christmas yet and festivals are already beginning to announce their line-ups for 2016. New festivals crop up every year and next year looks set to be no different with Outlines Festival unveiling its first line up announcement this morning.
The one-day, multi-venue festival will take place for the first time on Saturday 27th February in Sheffield and its initial line up announcement shows that the festival isn’t messing around at the shallow end of the pool.
Jumping straight in at the deep end, Outlines has announced as Roots Manuva headliner. The genre-defying UK legend has just released Bleeds – another label showcasing the height of UK hip hop. The album also features production from Four Tet and Switch’s new production team.
Also announced is hotly tipped Loyle Carner, whose introspective hip-hop has caught the eye of many emerging talent fans; Domino signing Georgia, whose debut album is a heady mix of ’00s grime, dub, post-punk and hip hop; Kagoule, bringing their dynamic noise rock from Nottingham; as well as PINS and Oscar.
Outlines is the latest brainchild of the team behind Sheffield’s most well-known festival – Tramlines. Each year, tramlines attracts 150,000 music fans to the city to watch a host of established artists play alongside emerging talent.
Outlines has teamed up with known Sheffield venues including Plug, O2 Academy and The Harley, and more surprising venues like the city’s roller skating rink to make sure festival goers get a true reflection of Sheffield’s music scene.
