Portland’s Reptaliens due to release debut album in October

Dreamy purveyors of indie pop, Reptaliens, will be releasing their debut LP FM-2030 on October 6 via Captured Tracks.

Recorded at The Green House in Portland, the eleven-tracker, FM-2030 is apparently named after the “mysterious transhumanist philosopher” FM-2030.  The kooky record boasts songs such as ‘Butter Slime’, ‘666Bus’ and ‘Ubik’.  Currently, the second track on the album, ‘If You Want’, is being aired as the first official single, preceding the long-plays release.  Listen to ‘If You Want’ below.

Reptaliens, fronted by married couple Cole and Bambi Browning, have said that FM-2030 “gravitates toward other people’s obsessions and draws inspiration from them”.

Bambi from the band carried on to detail that she believes she is personifying herself “as the obsessor, writing from their perspective.  I love pretending and creating around these personalities.”

On the music-writing process, Cole says “Bambi and I write all the music.   Sometimes we work together to construct songs and sometimes I’ll come home from work and she’ll have a masterpiece finished and perfectly crafted.”
