PREMIERE: Cian Ciarán (Super Furry Animals) shares radioactive protest movie

Super Furry Animal Cian Ciarán has released his latest album in a unique format: it comes encrusted in radioactive mud.

Or at least 20 copies of it do. The anti-nuclear campaigner delivered the mud-coated CDs to the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff earlier this month, to raise awareness of a controversial proposal to dump 300,000 tonnes of radioactive mud off the Welsh coast.

On hand to film the action was Seperado! and American Interior director Dylan Goch, and the result is the following film, exclusive to Gigslutz.

Edited by SFA biographer Ric Rawlins, the short video – titled This Isn’t A Gift To Wales From Westminster – takes us behind the scenes of Cian’s radioactive protest. Check it out below, exclusively on Gigslutz

Says Cian of the protest: “Fukushima serves as a warning to the decision makers regarding what happens when they listen to the corporations and not its people. We have a voice – we just need to shout louder to either change the minds of, or rid ourselves of, those policy makers.”
