I recently met Rory Simmons totally by chance in a South East London boozer and within a couple of hours we were in his shed, jamming with Ross Godfrey from Morcheeba and discussing the benefits of Wu Tang belief. It was destiny. Not only that, he granted Gigslutz an exclusive first peek at the video for ‘Like Wow’ released under his project Harlequiin.
Check it out below…
Harlequiin takes the listener on a journey through shuddering synths and glitchy electronic ryhthms. The project, boasting 5 EPs of superb quality electro-pop, has garnered support from the likes of Wonderland, EARMILK, Line Of Best Fit, Soho Radio and many more, applauding Rory’s fresh and untried methods.
Rory is a prolific producer who has released various projects with his trio Monocled Man, his large ensemble Fringe Magnetic and Anglo-Norwegian combo Eyes Of A Blue Dog. He has been featured on Jazz on 3, been commissioned by BBC Late Junction, Cheltenham International Jazz Festival, and the Institute Of Education; he’s also remixed tracks for Jamie Cullum, Nostalgia 77 and Troyka. As a musician, he has performed with admired superstars including The 1975, Mount Kimbie, Labrinth, Friendly Fires and Blur.
