PREMIERE: The Purple Lights share new single ‘Not Alone’

Ahead of it’s release on 17th November, The Purple Lights have shared their sultry and seductive new track ‘Not Alone’, exclusively first on Gigslutz.

‘ Not Alone’ is the title track from the much anticipated second EP from the East London duo and is produced with Shane Shanahan (Japanese House, Ed Harcourt) at London’s Westpoint Studios. Scroll down to check it out.

A hint of reggae grooves lend a more laid-back vibe to this alt rock duo’s offerings, with a smattering of roots percussion and hyphenated with the pop inflections and powerful vocals of Rob Fincham, not to mention sprinkled their signature loopstation magic that lends so much weight to their live performance. The sound is currently being compared to everything from Vampire Weekend, Reginald Omas Mamode IV’s distinctive takes on Afrobeat to the free-flowing wig outs of Fuck Buttons.

Expressionistic, the lyrics explore aspects of alienation, misunderstanding and the anxieties of life. In keeping with the band’s inclusive principles they reach out to anyone who is struggling and suggesting that they are not alone in experiencing these feelings at one time or other. Check it out below.
Over the summer The Purple Lights performed at festivals including Glastonbury, Beacons, Latitude and Secret Garden Party instantly reaching out to fans and building a unifying and positive presence, as they draw on everything from 60s psyche to dancehall vibes and tribal drums for inspiration.  Adopted as resident artists at the Roundhouse in Camden they were also chosen to headline a showcase of new acts at the venue earlier this month.
