The Manatees are set to release cathartic summer anthem ‘Headstrong’. This follows on from previous singles ‘Milan’ and ‘What If’, which was featured on the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Radio X.
The latest track is an observation of our society’s reaction to the world around us, particularly the media we are exposed to on a day-to-day basis that leaves us confused and apathetic. Southampton- based The Manatees draw inspiration from the likes of The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Libertines, Southampton-based to infuse relatable lyrics with driving rhythms and infectious melodies.
The band describe the track as “Headstrong is an angsty confession of the self-doubt and distrust that current media outlets create within us; whether that be Instagram models who never seem to suffer a bad day, or a constant stream of click bait and fake news that leaves us not knowing to believe.”
Check the song out now before it gets officially released on 19th July.
