Premiere: Ultras – ‘You’ve A Foul Mouth, John Barleycorn’

Describing themselves as “violent pop for the patronised”, Scottish band Ultras are the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Gav Prentice, and have previously garnered support from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music, as well as Vic Galloway and Amazing Radio, and have wowed crowds supporting We Were Promised Jetpacks and Admiral Fallow.

Now, set to release their debut album later this month, they have shared a brand new single. With hints of the likes of East India Youth, ‘You’ve Got A Foul Mouth, John Barleycorn’ is a racing, energy-fuelled electro-indie anthem. Propelled by pulsating beats and synth-filled melodies, it’s an instant ear worm – a fuzzy, infectious sonic delight.

Produced by Miaoux Miaoux’s Julian Corrie, ‘You’ve Got A Foul Mouth, John Barleycorn’ is taken from Ultras’ upcoming eponymous debut album.
