Premiere: Vanessa Anne Redd – ‘Drona Sticks’

London-based singer songwriter Vanessa Anne Redd is set to release her debut solo album next month; having previously created music with the likes of Rubicks and Six Years, Redd’s new work sees a step away from earlier electronic work, instead heading in a more folky, melodic direction.

Inspired by artists such as Holly Golightly, Syd Barrett and Nico, Redd describes her new album as “a simple grunge-folk affair” – an apt description of her raw yet melodic latest creations.

From the album is new track ‘Drona Strings’ – a charming offering filled with twinkling melodies, driving Velvet Underground-esque hooks and Redd’s unique delicate vocals oozing a subtle power.

Vanessa Anne Redd plays a special, invite-only, intimate set at King’s Head members bar in Dalston next Wednesday, 14 September. More info here.

Behind The Wall, the debut EP from Vanessa Anne Redd, is out 7 October via Sharp Attack Records.
