Still barely out of their teens The Velvet Hands were born out of the scene NME coined ‘Kernow Wave’, Cornwall’s blistering garage-rock scene, and are now a focal point of London’s underground-soon-to-overground guitar scene. The band have spent the last 18 months releasing a string of successful DIY singles and travelled all over the UK building a fan-base the proper way; playing shows, connecting with real people, making their mark.
Their debut album ‘Party’s Over’ (out now on 12″ and May 4th on CD/digital) blends slacker story-telling and belting guitar riffs reminiscent of The Strokes and The Vaccines, with rousing punk choruses that recall The Clash. Whilst onstage their raucous high energy live sets and swagger has seen the tussling front-men Able and Mitchell likened to The Libertines. Check out ‘Gimme Some Time’ first below.
