Parklife 2018

PREVIEW: Parklife Festival 2018

As the weather is starting to crank up, the start of festival season 2018 in the UK is already underway.  We have already been to Liverpool Sound City and Live at Leeds, while fans up and down the country have trapped to The Great Escape, and this weekend All Points East takes over.  In June however, Parklife takes over.

However, there is one festival which time and time again proves to be a firm fan favourite on the festival circuit; Manchester’s very own, Parklife. Taking place in Heaton Park on June 9 + 10, we have handpicked a selection of artists which you should be looking out for at this year’s event:

Funster
Saturday – VIP La Discothéque

If you are contemplating upgrading to access the VIP area at this year’s Parklife, then we suggest you do, purely for Funster.  Leftfield and somewhat unknown outside of The Big Smoke, Funster is tearing up the scene, with his ‘Chunk’ nights drawing brilliant crowds with an even better vibe.

Funster will make his debut to the Heaton Park faithful this year, which can be extremely daunting for any artist, but we fully expect Funster to showcase the best in techno and electro.

Mall Grab
Saturday – The Black Madonna Presents: We Still Believe

2017 was without a doubt Mall Grab’s biggest year to date and 2018 is already being capitalised on by the Australian DJ.  Opting to sow his seeds in the disco/funky house genres which have become associated with him due to the release of ‘2 B Reel’ and ‘B.F.O.D.A.A.S’, Mall Grab is a one-to-watch at Parklife this year.  The Australian might call London his current home, but we are sure that by the end of Parklife, he will be leaving with a soft spot of Manchester.

Liam Gallagher
Sunday – The Parklife Stage

Does Liam Gallagher need any introduction? The undisputed king of Manchester (a bold statement considering Manchester’s rich music history) will be headlining the Parklife Main Stage come Sunday evening.  His debut solo album, As You Were, received plaudits from around the globe and now, Gallagher returning to his home city will be a special occasion for all involved.

Andy C
Sunday – Ram Jam

“Want to get a little looser? Want to lose your God damn mind?” Look no further than Andy C. Considered royalty in the drum and bass scene; Andy C has been shelling down raves for almost 30 years, and he still manages to keep things fresh and innovative – something that a lot of veterans have failed to do. He is a Parklife regular and guaranteed to send your adrenaline levels through the roof!

Bicep
Saturday – Sounds Of The Near Future (Live set)
Sunday – The Valley (DJ Set)

Hailing from Belfast, the Bicep boys are at the peak of electronic music.  Their 2017 self-titled debut album, featuring the magnificently crafted ‘Glue’ was listed amongst the best EDM and Electronic albums of the year by Rolling Stone, showing that the duo is on more than just a roll.  Luckily for you, Bicep will be playing both a live set (and a DJ set at Heaton Park. Do not say Parklife founder, Sacha Lord, never spoils you!
