Reading & Leeds festival have announced another 50 incredible additions to join the four 2014 festival headliners, Queen Of The Stone Age, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182.
One act who will catch the eye of many is former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way who will appear on the NME/Radio 1 stage in what will be his first ever UK solo gig. Way will feature on the same stage as headline acts Disclosure, Courtneers and Bombay Bicycle Club.
Also to be confirmed alongside Gerard are two American acts, Schoolboy Q and La Dispute. Soulful rapper Maverick Sabre will also feature and so will Australian pop duo DZ Deathrays.
With 12 weeks to go before gates open this years line up looks to be the strongest yet which some of the best talents in the world from rock, indie, dance grime and hip-hop genres. And that doesn’t stop with electronic music as the festival has managed to lure Sigma, Indiana, RÜFÜS, Panama,Kove, MØ, Lxury and Billion to continue the trend.
However, punk and rock music is the heartbeat of Reading & Leeds festival so We Came As Romans, Crosses,Muncie Girls, Brutality Will Prevail, Lesser Key, The HELL, Beasts, Masked Intruder, Emily’s Army and Vales have all need named alongside headliners Jimmy Eat World, Gogol Bordello and Of Mice & Men to perform on the Lock Up and The Pit stages.
Festivals though aren’t just about the headline acts, they are an opportunity for you to expand your knowledge of music, listen to a new act, dabble in something you aren’t maybe familiar in. So in light of that the Festival Republic Stage has got it all sorted for you. With Palma Violets, Band Of Skulls and Augustines headlining, now King Charles, Southern, We Are Scientists, The Amazing Snakeheads, American Authors, Little Matador, The Minutes, Leaders Of Men, The Sunshine Underground, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Sivu, Drowners, Lucius and Saint Raymond have all joined the line-up.
But new to this years event, the BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage will be dedicated to all things hip-hop, urban and grime with the likes of rapper Giggs and American hip hop trio Pusha T, Joey Bada$$ and Danny Brown already on the bill. They will now be joined alongside MistaJam, Raleigh Ritchie, Dirty Dike, Edward Scissortongue, Dominique Young Unique, Tempa T, Little Simz, Newham Generals, Adian Coker, Kwabs, Elli Ingram, Hawk House and My Nu Leng.
