REVIEW: Jesus Jones Demon Music Group vinyl reissues

One time darlings of indie dancefloors Bradford – On – Avon 5 piece Jesus Jones have had a chunk of their back catalogue reissued on tantalising coloured vinyl as well as a huge CD box set.

With their electro, big beat rock which saw them conquer the shores of USA, Demon Music Group have gone all guns blazing reissuing 6 of the bands albums; Liquidizer (1989), Doubt (1991), Perverse (1993), Already (1997), London (2001) and Passages (2018) on vinyl with a 15 CD box set also being unleashed.

There’s little doubt that the bands material still makes the cut. What with the likes of Real, Real, Real; International Bright Young Thing; Right Here, Right Now; The Next Big Thing; and Come On Home, the reintroduction of the bands material on vinyl deserves reevaluation.

Liquidizer and Doubt are the go-to albums for the band, released at the height the early 90’s new band boom, the likes of Info Freako saw the band jump on our TV screens from Top Of The Pops to TVAM, the band were everywhere. Perverse followed in 1993 after the band had hits all over the globe, whilst Perverse was not as big a seller as its predecessors, it still contained a number of stand out tracks including Depeche Mode sounding The Devil You Know.

Following an extended hiatus, they returned in 1996 with Already, despite losing drummer Gen the band still had their bite with tracks like Muse predecessor The Next Big Thing. 2002 release London might not have had a as catchy hit as the bands first releases over a decade before, nonetheless there was enough appeal from tracks like Nowhere Soon.

The bands 2018 album Passages had those similar techno rock sounds that first gained the bands fans through Doubt, How’s This Even Going Down tantalised fans with an album nigh on rich glories of years past, the band spawning some similar sounds to U2.

These new vinyl editions have brought these much loved albums and tracks back to life and are timely additions to fans collections, breathing new life with their juicy colours and remastered sounds.
