While speaking about their NME award nomination, American rap duo Run The Jewels have confirmed work has begun on their new album, Meow The Jewels.
Meow The Jewels is set to be an innovative fan-funded cat remix version of Run The Jewels’ latest record, Run The Jewels 2, which has been nominated for Best Album at this year’s NME Awards.
After achieving its Kickstarter goal of £24,000 ($45,000) last year and the duo – consisting of El-P and Killer Mike – finally having taken a break from touring, it has been revealed work has officially begun on the new record.
Talking to NME El-P said: “Meow The Jewels has just started production”. The American rapper continued to say: “We were handling all of the charitable aspect and getting money to where we had to get it first, and we’ll be making an announcement about that soon.”
When asked if Run The Jewels fans could expect to hear a taster from Meow The Jewels any time soon, El-P stated: “I’m not sure how long the whole thing will take because it’s not all in my hands – we’ve got a bunch of people and producers on board to make cat noises and I need to wrangle it all together”.
More details about Meow The Jewels, the fan-funded forthcoming album from Run The Jewels, are sure to follow.
