New Track: The Sherlocks – ‘Escapade’

It is not often these days that a teenager puts me onto any kind of music I enjoy, but that is exactly what happened recently when a 13 year old suggested I check out The Sherlocks.

The four piece from Sheffield consist of two sets of brothers (Josh and Andy Davidson, and Kiaran and Brandon Cook) who have been busy over the last few years establishing their sound and supporting artists such as Steve Cradock and Scouting For Girls. Towards the end of last year the band broke the top 100 with their catchy single ‘Live For The Moment’ and aim to build on that success with the release of new single, ‘Escapade’.

‘Escapade’ is another catchy tune from The Sherlocks, with the guitar and drums reminding me instantly of the Courteeners or Arctic Monkeys, while the vocals have more of The Enemy feel to them. That said, these are pretty good name checks for an unsigned band and the song itself is a perfect blend of indie pop. ‘Escapade’ is a dance-floor filler that may well become something of an anthem for 2015. It is infectious from the off, with banging drums and a wicked groove that hooks the listener in before the vocals even kick off! After  just a couple of listens, I found myself singing along “you can dance all night when the lights start to flicker, you know I won’t let you go”. With the song set to feature on Soccer-AM tomorrow morning, and vocalist Kiaran and the boys hitting the road extensively, ‘Escapade’ could be the track that lights up the name The Sherlocks across the nation.

You can hear new single, ‘Escapade’, exclusively premiered on Soccer AM tomorrow morning. But, in the meantime, here’s ‘Live For The Moment’:
