What a pleasant bunchMarionare to be around. Given the Marion story (bundles of records sold, dedicated followers, drug abuse and members joining New Order) I was apprehensive before going down to the bunker of theIslingtonAcademyto chew the fat with this lot. I needn’t have worried. Each of them to a man were mega welcoming and open even coming to the boozer with us after the interview for a couple of hours for pre gig shandies. The gig itself was triumphant. I watched from the balcony as they played with smiles on their faces and the sold out crowd loved every minute. I have to say I was taken aback by the size of the crowd. They have been away for a long long time, however their legion of followers have clearly not forgotten them. They were tight and sounded great, playing the old favourites and introducing new songs to their set.

After the show myself and the Gigslutz crew were invited to help polish off the rider as the band signed old vinyl records, before we headed for the night spots ofUpper Street. I think we finally sloped off home some time around 3am…possibly…
