Sting Makes Way To UK In 2015

If you’ve been holding onto your crumpets waiting for Sting to make his way to your shores, wait no longer. He and Paul Simon have just announced their On Stage Together tour is making its way to the UK in 2015. This according to Sting’s official site.

For you calendar watchers, the tour kicks off on March 12 in Krakow, Poland before finally making its way to the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on April 10, LG Arena in Birmingham on April 12, Phones 4U Arena in Manchester on April 13 and two shows at the 02 Arena in London on the 15th and 16th of April. You can get information for all the shows at Ticketbis.net. Whatever you do, I wouldn’t wait too long.

So what can you expect to hear from these two living legends? Well, if their first appearance back on February 8, 2014 in Houston, Texas in the United States is any indication, a lot.

This show opened with two slow tunes, “Brand New Day” and “Fields Of Gold” which are two of Sting’s tunes. He and Simon alternated on vocals on this one. Simon threw in one of his more upbeat tunes “Boy in the Bubble” to round out the opening.

Each performer would then play a short set, occasionally playing each other’s songs such as when Sting did a version of the Simon tune “America.”

And of course the entire event ended with what is arguably the most popular song The Police have ever done, “Every Breath You Take.” But the real highlight during the multiple song encore was Sting taking on the Garfunkel role in “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Even if you’re not a Paul Simon fan, this is something you’ve got to hear.

So you have to ask. Why did these two pair up together? Well, they actually have more in common than you’d think. They’re both into world and folk music, both dig reggae, both have done music from Africa and they both genuinely admire each other. Sometimes a pairing that looks really odd on the spec sheet turns out to be really amazing in actual reality. Sting and Paul Simon are a perfect example of that.

If you want some idea of how long this show is going to be and how many songs you can expect to hear, going by past performances together, you better put aside a good two and a half hours for the evening and get ready for at least 30 of their best tunes. So if you think ticket prices are high, you’ll soon find out that they are more than worth it.

After all, these are two living legends who you’re going to be seeing.

That opportunity only comes around once in a lifetime.
