With Strawberry Fields Festival just one week away, we continue our look at some of the must see bands. This time round, it’s The Sundowners – we caught up with vocalist/guitarist Niamh Rowe and we learnt just what a festival is to her, and more so what we can expect from The Sundowners at Strawberry Fields.
GS: Hi Niamh! First Question – What are your festival essentials?
Niamh: Well being female and all I’d have to say femme fresh haha! Not sure about the boys but I’m guessing fresh socks and undies for them!
GS: what are you looking forward to about Strawberry Fields?
Niamh: it’s gonna be a good laugh because most of us on the This Feeling stage know each other so it’ll be a fun reunion!
GS: What’s your dream festival line-up?
Niamh: good question! Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Beatles, Neil Young…. There’s too many to choose from but you get the vibe ha!
GS: What’s the best/worst thing that’s ever happened to you at a festival?
Niamh: Ahh that’s hard to choose but best thing is being wasted seeing a band you adore! Worst thing is probably the Glastonbury monsoon and getting stuck in the mud or your guitarist breaking his collarbone doing flips in the stone circle (that actually happened)! Ha!
GS: What can we expect from you at SFF?
Niamh: We’ll be playing some new songs that’ll be on our album. You’ll probably see us rolling around in a field at some point ha x
Soothing harmonies and melodic riffs are guaranteed with these guys, as is your satisfaction. With attitude flying throughout the presence of the band, and which ever room Sundowners may be playing in. With a brilliant mix of variety in their songs, this lot have got it all.
The Sundowners play the This Feeling stage on Sunday August 10th, nearing the end of your weekend, I don’t think there’s a more perfect way to end what is undoubtedly what is going to be one of the best weekends of the year.
