Swimmers Jackson shares video for new single ‘Birthday Girl’

Buoyant guitar riffs and catchy lyrics combine in Weezer-esque style on Swimmers Jackson’s latest single ‘Birthday Girl’. Lifted from his recent album Murmuration, the track is accompanied by a colourful music video, shot and directed by Ryan Phillips.

After moving from Dublin to London in late 2015 without his fellow band mates, Jackson began writing, recording, and performing solo material. Named after the shapes that a flock of starlings make in the sky, Murmuration reflects the dips, dives, and ever-changing rhythms of life, and third single ‘Birthday Girl’ clearly reflects these themes.

Speaking about the track, Jackson explains: “It was borne out of a little frustration on my part that a) nothing seemed to be moving for me, and b) I was really missing my bandmates so wanted to see if I could do this kind of song on my own.” The result is an optimistic, breezy guitar tune which Jackson can be seen playing along with in the accompanying video.
