Liverpool legends, The Coral, have been confirmed for a homecoming show as Sunday headliners of Sound City 2016.
The show – the band’s first in Liverpool for five years – promises to be a standout, and no doubt emotional experience for both the band and fans. Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi said: “The Coral have always been on our wish list and we are absolutely delighted they have chosen Sound City for their return. We’re expecting some big scenes when they close the Atlantic Stage on Sunday night, facing out across the water to their Wirral home.
“They are part of the DNA of this city and occupy a very special place in our hearts. It’s going to be a landmark show and one not to miss.”
The Coral’s singer, James Skelly, said: “Sound City is a great festival and the setting is just incredible. We’re really looking forward to the headline slot and being back in Liverpool. It’s going to be a very special show.”
Sound City, which takes place on 28 & 29 May 2016 at the Liverpool Waters Bramley-Moore Dock, is one of the UK’s most vibrant and culturally significant music events to take place all year. With The Coral headlining, and hundreds of bands, performers and experiences still to be announced, Sound City is an essential fixture on the festival calendar.
Tickets for the festival go on sale 9am Friday 27 November at www.liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk
