TRACK REVIEW: Treasureseason – ‘We Live Fast’

Summer has truly gone, but that won’t stop me walking on beaches.  Treasureseason is perfect for my lonely strolls in the Winter cold. They are David Powell and Jess Bartlett. With the lyric, “the clock moves too quickly”, ‘We Live Fast’ is perfectly designed for this season of existential sadness and end of year contemplation.  It has the timeless sound of mid-’80s electronica, but there are also the pulses and fades that are so in vogue these days.

A departure from the chirpy, poppy froth of ‘The City’- which had more breakdowns than a garage – this track has the sound of a band really stretching themselves; becoming blissfully aware of what they can do, whilst making us wistful at the same time.

Both trancelike and transformative, and universal but not insular, Treasureseason are following the weather in more ways than one.  An EP is promised before 2014 is binbagged; you would be wise to follow their footprints.
