Following last year’s EP Same Stuff, Emily Magpie has shared her forthcoming single ‘The Witching Hour.’

Inspired by, and teeming with, the power of feminine energy, ‘The Witching Hour’ celebrates such energy in a fittingly bewitching manner. Pulsating and eerie, Emily blends electronic elements with a shoegaze-esque dreaminess and a sort of folksiness in her story-telling. It’s truly unique, and deeply magical; something that, in all its etherealness, manages to be so vast. The result of reading a book about the witch trials, Emily says: “It’s a song about claiming your own power deep from within you”, and magic aside, it’s something that speaks volumes and is an important message, spread beautifully.

‘The Witching Hour’ is out 26th May 2017. Catch Emily live at the following dates:

May
29 – Blue Lagoon, Bristol

June
2 – St James Wine Vaults, Bath
10 – Home Farm Festival, Somerset

Despite being compared to an ancient call, ‘Twist In The Dark,’ the latest offering from Melbourne’s post-punks Gold Class, is rooted deeply in the now: both sonically and lyrically.

Addressing both the turmoil of life at the moment, and the need to push forward, ‘Twist In The Dark’ – with its sinister vocals and rhythmic broodiness – not only provides a reflection of the doom and gloom, but a soundtrack to the letting go. Indeed, Gold Class are known for their live shows, and with the track written with such shows in mind, it lends itself perfectly to the release that everyone needs at the moment. You’ll have to keep up though, because in its 4 minutes and 40 seconds, ‘Twist In The Dark’ never lets up.

‘Twist In The Dark’ is out now.

Following the hugely successful ‘In Your Hands’, Hull’s LIFE are back with ‘Ba Ba Ba,’ an equally brash dose of their no-holds-barred, panic-driven sound.

With the upcoming album described by the band as sounding like “panic and anxiety,” ‘Ba Ba Ba’ perfectly paves the way for this: aggressive, anxious and pulsing, ‘Ba Ba Ba’ wraps you up in a wave of madness that leaves you both gasping for breath and gagging for more.

Yet in beneath the mania, ‘Ba Ba Ba’ is considered and aware; a further note on the fear in our society. And it sets LIFE apart from their contemporaries.

The album Popular Music is out 26th May.

Sharing the video for ‘Say What You Say,’ along with an intro from spoken word artist Cecilia Knapp, HAUS have openly and emotionally created an ode to London.

In turn, however, ‘Say What You Say’ addresses a bigger issue. As the band say themselves: ‘We want to highlight the importance of hearing and sharing our stories… how it can breed empathy and unify us.”

With their sparkly, genre spanning sound – pop sensibilities, with nods to Foals and Alt-J, and just about everything else thrown in the mix – HAUS already unite people, and ‘Say What You Say’ is the perfect push to speak up for yourself, to stand up for what you believe in.
