Tracks Of The Week, 18.02.15

His Rooney and Rough days may be over, but Taylor Locke is doing anything but laying dormant. As his voyage into the realm of solo-artistry is only just beginning, his latest offering, the bizarrely infectious ‘Call Me Kuchu’, proves Locke’s head is still in the game and his eyes are still firmly planted on making a musical impact.

With crisp guitar lines complimenting an extremely poignant, heart-felt vocal, ‘Call Me Kuchu’ is a enthralling track brimming with sophistication. Worth pricking your ears up for, ‘Call Me Kuchu’ is a song sure to be instantly lodged in your brain for many moons to come. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Locke’s debut album, Time Stands Still, is out 23rd February.

Bubbling with kooky, comedic lyrics and boasting an extremely satisfying listening experience is Slaves‘ new single, ‘Feed The Mantaray’. The hype band of 2015’s latest offering is chock-filled with hooky chords and the usual distinctive Slaves stamp, making ‘Feed The Mantaray’ a glorious feast for any fan of the Kent duo. If you’re lucky enough to catch the pair on the NME Awards tour this February, you’re in for one hell of a sweet-yet-raucous treat.

Don’t be too surprised if you find Saycet‘s new song, ‘Mirages’, sound-tracking an emotion-doused scene in the next big Hollywood blockbuster. This gigantic electronic tune has the potential to make it to the top. The mysterious Saycet has paired his innovative sound with the sparkling vocal of Phonene Somsavath to create the arousing, ‘Mirages’.

Elusively haunting and dripping with passion, Saycet’s ‘Mirages’ boasts a sleek and refined electronic voice determined to break-out. Although this may be your first taste of Saycet, it’s clear to guarantee it won’t be your last.

The album, Mirage, is out 6th April.

As the release of his debut album looms ever closer, Only Real has revealed another appetizer to tease us with what we can expect from Jerk At The End of the Line. Easing himself into a stupor of heart-breaking nostalgia, Only Real’s recently revealed new album track, ‘Can’t Get Happy’, portrays images of lonely summer nights and the ideology that Only Real harbours a heart of shining gold.

The vocal-driven track sees Only Real humming his way into insecurity – “Do you think of me at all?” – while the surf-pop backbone to ‘Can’t Get Happy’ propels this track to appeal to every taste bud his dedicated fans own. Impeccably groovy and simply impossible to dislike, ‘Can’t Get Happy’ cements this West London lad’s predicted legacy of topping 2015.

Jerk At The End Of The Line is out 30th March.
