Unsigned Act Of The Week: Tourist Attractions

When Ian Brown spoke the immortal line “It takes time for people to fall in love with you… But it’s inevitable” who could’ve guessed it would eventually be applicable to a bunch of boys from Blackburn? Four-piece Tourist Attractions may currently be a relatively unknown secret but, with the release of their debut EP ‘Dusk’, it seems as if the future is in their palms.

Tourist Attractions’ first step into the music industry is opened by the punchy, rip-roaring ‘Silhouette’. Featuring flying, infectious guitar lines, the beguiling opening track throws all expectations of Tourist Attractions simply being ‘another indie boy-band’ out of the window. Almost immediately, the listener is cast into a whirlwind of controlled madness and – for a debut EP as phenomenal as ‘Dusk’ – it’s only right that the boys open with a firecracker.

The raging fire of ‘Dusk’ rolls on as ‘Silhouette’ is followed by Tourist Attractions’ first, and latest, single ‘Heartless Man’. Although the boys have clocked up only a year together as a collective, the sophistication and professionalism that’s emitted by ‘Heartless Man’ is something to be applauded. The single is a true triumph for the Lancashire based group and one that surely won’t remain uncovered for much longer.

As the EP rises from strength-to-strength, penultimate track ‘Blazing Sun’ shows a calmer, slightly more emotional side to the lads. Driven by a woozy guitar line, ‘Blazing Sun’ reeks of the sounds of a lazy summer’s evening spent in an alcoholic slump. Although the carefully carved lyrics speak of a deeper concern, ‘Blazing Sun’ is nothing less than an ultimate summer anthem.

Tourist Attractions’ debut EP ‘Dusk’ is something spectacular and deserves to be echoed across the planet. The stunning sounds and distinctive professionalism which radiate from each, individual track are mesmerising, and an honour to be a part of. It won’t be long until Tourist Attractions are making waves and, if ‘Dusk’ is anything to go by, the future is looking bright.
