Unsigned Act Of The Week: The Sherlocks

The new single from The Sherlocks cements them as one of the best new indie bands today – strong vocals and undeniably catchy riffs power through this unstoppable tune. These two sets of brothers from Sheffield have worked themselves up through good old fashioned hard graft. After playing over 700 gigs from Sheffield to Benidorm they’ve been offered support slots with The Enemy, Scouting for Girls and Simple Minds. Not bad for 4 lads without so much as an official single released.

‘Live For The Moment’ is a classic guitar strumming, drum thumping, beat-driven indie rock song. The song immediately bursts in with its relentless and exciting melody. This is soon accompanied by Kiaran Crook’s broad vocals, almost identical to Alex Turner in the distant past of 2007 – “live for the moment, you’ll never know what’s coming round the corner”. The Sherlocks debut single is a feel good song written, and to be enjoyed, by today’s youth. It’s melodically and lyrically uplifting for all to enjoy. If The Sherlocks continue making tracks as good as this one and take their own advice to live for the moment, they’ll easily live up to comparisons as the “new Arctic Monkeys” and hopefully go even further to break into the music industry.

‘Live For The Moment’ is out October 13th. And, if you like what you hear, catch The Sherlocks live:

11th October: Sheffield – The Rockin’ Chair (Single Launch)

1st November: Manchester – Kraak Gallery

7th November: Hull – The New Adelphi
