VIDEO PREMIERE: Aoibhín – ‘My Choice’

19 year old Irish songwriter Aoibhín is in the midst of recording her first album, hosting a music show on Dublin’s Radio na Life, and filming moody ethereal music videos; the latest of which is for single ‘My Choice’. Along with her band, Aoibhín released her debut EP in October last year, and the accompanying videos received multiple award nominations from the likes of DISFMF and Los Angeles Cinefest.

Now working with the same director and crew for ‘My Choice’, Aoibhín has helped to create another dark and delicate visual to compliment her sound. Concealed by darkness and nature, Aoibhín sings her melancholy lyrics that reflect being shut out by society. The main inspiration for the song was the incredible Repeal the 8th campaign, a petition which calls upon the Constitution of the Republic of Ireland to allow women the right to access safe & legal abortion services. The songwriter was also inspired to write ‘My Choice’ to document her struggle with severe anxiety and depression linked to autism, and was keen to demonstrate how lonely and isolating this can be.

We’re impressed by Aoibhín’s strength and courage when it comes to writing about these issues,  and even more impressed by her new video for ‘My Choice’. Watch it below.
