VIDEO PREMIERE: Night Owls – ‘Boomerang’

With a sound suited to their nocturnal namesake, Night Owls are here to disrupt your ears and eyes with their video for latest single ‘Boomerang’. Taken from their upcoming EP of the same name; the track is a grungy lament to attention-seeking throwaway antics on social media, laced with visceral guitar riffs and aggressive percussion.

The Leeds-based band have gone from strength to strength since they performed at Reading & Leeds Festival in 2016, supporting the likes of Cloud Nothings, Yuck and Tigercub. This next venture sees them pair up with DIY imprint Witchgirl Recordings (Vulgarians, Party Hardly, Peach Club) for the release of a their cassette EP Boomerang, which comes out on October 16th. They’ll be playing a gig at London’s Sebright Arms on the same date to celebrate the occasion (RSVP here), with support coming from Drug Store Romeos and L.A Peach.

Shot & Directed by Aidan Razzall (Weirds), the video for ‘Boomerang’ shows footage of the band playing their instruments whilst acting undisturbed by the excess of social media icons floating across the screen. Speaking about the video, Night Owls explained: “It’s a commentary on the strange stuff people do on Facebook for likes and how people put a rose-tinted filter on everything to make their lives seem better than they are.” One things for sure, the video for ‘Boomerang’ doesn’t need rose-tinted specs to be appreciated. Take a look for yourselves…
