Watch: Alex Turner covers Tame Impala’s ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’

Before Arctic Monkeys return to the UK later this month for two massive dates at Finsbury Park they are busying themselves with a tour of Australia.

Their third support act will be the aussie Tame Impala, and when guesting on Australian radio station Triple J along with drummer Matt Helders, frontman Alex Turner covered Tame Impala’s massive hit, ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’.

Part of Triple J’s ‘Like A Version’ series, Turner played a stripped down rendition of the psychedelic track on acoustic guitar, and transformed Kevin Parker’s effect-laden falsetto into his own famous sultry croon. As he becomes more and more assured as frontman for the BRIT Award-winning group he also seems to become less afraid to simplify to the point where his voice is the main instrument.

Arctic Monkeys will be at Finsbury Park on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th May, where they’ll also be supported by Miles Kane and Royal Blood, before headlining at the Reading and Leeds festival this August bank holiday weekend.
