WATCH: Courts – ‘True Say’

Here at Gigslutz, we know no-one works harder than Basildon five-piece Courts, so it’s always a joy to get fresh material from Chris, Dan, Joe, Luke and Reece. This time it comes in the form of a video for their track ‘True Say’ and it’s another uplifting, contemporary tune which is taken from their recent EP release Back of the Mind. Directed by the band’s close friend Harry Barber (who’s worked with the likes of Kano, Canon and Dazed), the video follows the band around their home town of Basildon, walking through the Craylands housing estate, having a kick about, and playing in their recording studio.

Speaking of the track, the band said: “We think the video sums up what we’re about perfectly. ‘True Say’ took a little while to write and was one of those awkward tracks that didn’t work first time round. It started as another song initially, but was stripped back to the original chord progression and a completely new song was born from it. It’s about Chris’ life experiences from childhood until now”.

Courts have already convinced Zane Lowe, Nile Rodgers and Elton John that their upbeat signature indie funk is worth listening to, and with tracks like this it won’t be long before you’re convinced either. Watch the video for ‘True Say’ below and follow Courts on Facebook for more updates.

Back of the Mind is available on all platforms now.
