At times like this, it’s more important than ever to have politically-charged bands, set on combining activism with fantastic music. Labelling themselves ‘Feminist Punk Witches From Hell’, Gigslutz favourites Dream Nails succeed in doing just this. Playing gigs to raise money for Women’s Aid and creating hugely powerful tracks, Dream Nails are a band with clear intent, as well as some bloody wonderful tunes.
Now, the band have shared an incredible, motivational video for their single ‘DIY’. DIY in every sense of the word, the video is complied of footage of women and girls doing things for themselves; from kick-boxing, to gardening, putting up shelves to rock climbing, it’s a wonderfully inspirational creation, conveying the power and beauty of females everywhere.
Along with the song’s motivational mantras of lines such as “You are good enough. You are strong enough. You are smart enough.”, this video is a truly uplifting and mega inspirational masterpiece – as the band describe it, “like the punk version of This Girl Can.” Another powerful and empowering offering from a band who continue to prove just how wonderful, and necessary, they are.
So, re-invigorate yourself on this Monday afternoon with the incredible sparkling-punk-force of Dream Nails.
