WATCH: Guttfull – ‘Arsehole’

Who doesn’t love the insult ‘arsehole’? It’s hilarious. It’s a non-gender specific slight that exudes brilliant British humour and disapproval. It’s a word, I would argue, frequently used to describe politicians on a day-to-day basis. Now, we can add Donald Trump to that list.

Guttfull’s first single ‘Arsehole’ is a very literal message to President Donald Trump, released on the day of his inauguration and consequently, one day before a record-breaking number of women attended the Women’s March in Washington DC.

Self-described as a ‘dirty sax punk band from Surrey’, Guttfull are fronted by vocalist Momoe Tasker whose screams are reminiscent of a young Kathleen Hanna; full of attitude galvanising listeners and encouraging “girls to the front!”

‘Arsehole’ is gutsy and angry, yet had me tapping my feet and smirking for its entirety. When it finished, I played it again and read stories about the incredible individuals campaigning for their voices to be heard in the new government.

Bands like Guttfull remind me how, in times of utter dismay, protest songs hold great power. They inspire people to march, shout and sing their way through the shit times. They are just what we need.

‘Arsehole’ is out now. Pick up your copy at Guttfull’s Bandcamp page.
