WATCH: Jennifer Davies shares new video for ‘Choke’

‘Gigslutz favourite’ Jennifer Davies has returned with the visuals for her latest release ‘Choke’, taken from her outstanding debut EP, Lapse of Time.

Having championed Davies since her debut video for ‘Lapse Of Time’ was released, it is great to see the Liverpool resident continuing to deliver on the strong promise that she showed when we first came across her work, with this latest synth-heavy art-pop single showcasing her unique sound perfectly. You can check out our in depth Gigslutz interview with Davies here, but of her new track, she said,

I wrote ‘Choke’ about being in really suffocating relationship. Needless jealously can be so destructive and it ruins everything. It just got to point where what should’ve been happy moments just didn’t feel good anymore and there was no way I was going to live my life feeling like that.”

Whilst ‘Choke’ is a song about the end of a relationship, there is something quite positive about it and the epic synths and anthemic chorus of “We’re miles away from where we started / we can’t go on and we both know / that even the good times don’t feel good enough / we’re breaking up / and it makes me choke” is enough to make you sing along whether you’re going through the aforementioned break up or not!

Visually, Davies is always on point with the videos for her tracks and ‘Choke’ does not disappoint. Directed by Maxx Peter and filmed on the Isle Of Skye in -3 conditions, the video sees Davies performing the track in front of some extremely scenic coastal backgrounds (alongside an amazing tin foil flag towards the end that we loved!) that add an element of enormity to the song that makes it even stronger as a complete package.
