WATCH: Liz Lawrence releases new single ‘Hope (Or Something Like It)’ & personal lockdown video

Liz Lawrence has released her brand new single ‘Hope (Or Something Like It)’, alongside a very personal yet relatable lockdown diary video, watch HERE. Her infectious solo album ‘Pity Party’ was released last October to much acclaim. It was packed with a wealth of songs documenting the angst endured by modern living and embraced a narrative relating to her own experience as well as the lives of other twenty-somethings surrounding her trying to do the best they can in a complex world.

Following a week in which Liz was on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing playlist, Liz’s new track was written at the beginning of lockdown as she made sense of her emotions and place as an artist during unprecedented times.

While previous single ‘California Screaming’ took aim at the anxiety-inducing and addictive cycle of global rolling news, ‘Hope’ sees Lawrence turning her gaze inwards, and will strike a chord with anyone who has struggled with trying to feel hopeful in what seem like hopeless times.

In Liz’s own words; “The question at the heart of hope is one of worth, some way of finding some vital reason for what I do. At the start of lockdown I felt sort of awkward and guilty that I wasn’t doing more, that I couldn’t be of more use and that’s when I wrote ‘Hope’ as a way of feeling like I could try to contribute to people’s healing or provide catharsis but the song at its core is also asking the question of my worth and the artist’s role on the planet. I only hope that in the grand equation people like my work as much as I love making it.”

After a sold out UK headline tour and a month supporting Bombay Bicycle Club across the UK & Ireland earlier this year, Liz Lawrence is set to play Lafayette on October 7th, with more dates to be announced.
