Watch: Morrissey plays new material alongside classics as he kicks off American tour.

Former Smiths singer Morrissey opened up his US tour in San Jose, California last night (May 7) with an hour and a half set bursting full of new and old songs Moz fans would die to hear.

The 20-song strong setlist spanned the whole of his discography with Smiths hits ‘Hand In Glove’, ‘Meat Is Murder’ and tearjerker ‘Asleep’ making an appearance but the main focus was on his solo career with the likes of ‘Ganglord’ and ‘Everyday is Like Sunday’. What made the tour opener a big deal was the first glimpse of some of the new material off his upcoming album ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’. It’s time to get jealous of those who were lucky enough to attend as the title track, ‘The Bullfighter Dies’ and ‘Earth Is The Loneliest Planet’ were all played.

Not everything was fun and games though. Morrissey may have spent his Smiths days being devoted to his fans by religiously replying to fanmail but the stage invasion during ‘One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell’ got a bit too much for him as he said farewell a bit too early by walking off stage mid-song due to the overwhelming fans. Who wouldn’t say no to a hug off Moz though? Sorrow really will come in the end.
