Manchester four piece The Slow Readers Club have revealed the video for their atmospheric new single, ‘You Opened Up My Heart’, taken from their upcoming album Build A Tower, out May 4th via Modern Sky.
An addictive blend of driving drums and foreboding atmospherics, ‘You Opened Up My Heart’ is a hugely infectious piece of dark electro pop. The video sees the band perform the track, silhouetted against vivid lights and glitchy visuals. A glistening hook gives way to pulsating rhythms, before breaking into its anthemic chorus, a glorious mix of haunting vocals amid sweeping synths and irresistible melodies. Simultaneously brooding and uplifting, it follows the tracks ‘Lunatic’ and ‘Through The Shadows’, both of which feature on the new album.
Singer Aaron Starkie said of the video, “It was great working with Chris (director) from Croftwork on this video, as he’s been with us from the start and together we’ve grown to the point where we’re making, hopefully, powerful images that compliment the music. We had a good day making the video, and being inside the cube with the projections in person was amazing, so we hope that translates to the viewer too”.
