WATCH: Troy Hudson shares Part 2 & 3 of her visual EP

If you had read our previous post on up & coming R&B singer Troy Hudson’s initial release from her hugely exciting visual EP Protect Your Throne (PYT), then you will be more than aware that she is releasing each new visual bi-weekly. Unfortunately Christmas and the New Year got in the way for us here at Gigslutz so we weren’t able to bring you Part 2 as promised. To make up for it, we thought we’d share Part 2 and 3 with you at the same time, so prepare for a double dose of the delightful Ms Hudson below.

Part 2 – Predicament feat. Incisive

Where the first installment saw Troy meet her tall, dark and handsome man and was very uplifting and happy, Part 2 is a far cry from that positive vibe. Beginning with the suggestion that her man may be seeing other women, ‘Predicament’ sees Troy questioning whether her boyfriend is all hers and the bassy, hip hop inspired beat provides the perfect soundtrack for her to vent her questions and worries with a chorus of  “If I was your one and only girl I’d be loving you all night / doing all the things I should, but you know that you’re not mine / and I wanna be your girl, so it’s hard to say goodbye” highlighting what the visuals shows us.

We covered Incisive’s recent tracks ‘Breathe‘ and ‘Mind Games‘ and the talented wordsmith is on point yet again, providing a refreshing dose of rap to the project’s overall R&B sound with the two My-ish artists collaborating with one another brilliantly – fingers crossed we will see them work together again in the future.

As far as the story goes for Part 2, check out the video below and find out whether Troy’s fears that her fella is playing away were right or whether she was just being paranoid. Just remember, if the story isn’t quite playing out as you’d hoped for our leading lady, fear not – there are a further three installments and a lot, lot more to this story, trust me! PS Don’t scroll down before you watch the video if you want to know what happens as Part 3 is below…

Part 3 – Never Hurt Me Again

So yeah, Mr ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ was cheating on the lovely Troy! What did she ever do to deserve that? Poor Troy. But wait, what’s this? The video for the third installment in the ongoing saga that is Troy Hudson’s visual EP Protect Your Throne begins with the image of Troy getting ready for her wedding day! How has Troy’s love-rat fiance managed to keep his cheating ways a secret from her? As Troy walks down the aisle and I shout at the screen “Don’t do it Troy”, thankfully our leading lady drops her bouquet and runs out of the church (she must have heard me), revealing her traditional Puma wedding shoes as she goes. And is that the ‘other woman’ I see wearing the blue dress in the church!? She’s got some nerve if so!

But getting back to the music, the track is a classic piece of heartfelt R&B and as the title suggests, the topic is that of Troy proclaiming to the world that she won’t be hurt again. It couldn’t be said any plainer with lyrics such as “I tried to be all that you’d want me to be / gave all of me and still you cheated on me / I’ve had enough and I can’t take it no more” giving us an insight into Troy’s inner emotions.

Whereas Part 1 & 2 we’re much more upbeat tracks, Part 3 gives us the first listen to Troy at her vocal best and really allows her to flaunt her vocal range superbly. Whilst the drama that unfolds before our eyes in the video is hugely compelling, as stand alone tracks, each installment reveals a different side to Troy, demonstrating her talent and proving that she can sing over any type of beat that is put in front of her.

With Part 4 a couple of weeks away, it won’t be long before we find out what’s next for Troy in this ongoing drama and we will be bringing you the visuals as soon as they are available. In the meantime, make sure you’re following Troy on Twitter and Facebook to keep updated with all her news and new music and give us a shout on Twitter and Facebook to let us know what you’ve made of this adventurous visual EP so far…
