WATCH: We Were Evergreen reinvent a Disney ‘Jungle Book’ classic

We’ve all seen Disney classic ‘The Jungle Book’ and no matter how embarrassed we are to say it, we’ve all sung and danced around to pretty much every song from that fine piece of film history. Well we don’t need to be embarrassed any more because  London-based French trio We Were Evergreen have brought one of the film’s most famous tracks into the 21st century.

‘I Wanna Be Like You’ (The Monkey Song), originally sung by the king of the apes King Louie (voiced by Louis Prima) in the motion picture, is a definite fan favourite and that is the very track that this group of musicians has decided to cover. With a much more chilled vibe and electro-folk feel than it’s predecessor, We Were Evergreen’s ‘Be Like You’ is a modern take on a song that was written in 1967.

Although it has been performed by a number of artists over the years from Robbie Williams to Pinky and Perky, We Are Evergreen have managed to uniquely reinvent the song in such a way that, unless you knew the words, you would never know it was a Disney cover. The visuals also offer a modern take on the lyrics, creatively showing various animated animals attempting to integrate into human life.

Check out the video for the track below and let us know what you think. We Were Evergreen or King Louie…you decide.
