LA based artist Xander Smith will be doing a few European dates in September, including stopping off at The Blue Cat in Heaton Moor, Stockport. Result!

Xander Smith has a rich musical background. From playing in his first bands at 12 years old he went on to front the psycaldelic band Chalk Circle with Foo Fighters touring member Jessey Greene and then toured Europe as guitarist for Epic’s Danielle Brisebois. Smith went onto partner up with Jennifer Finch (L7 / The Shocker) to form OtherStarPeople and their song writing partnership saw their songs make films such as ‘Office Space’ and TV shows such as ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’.

Since 2003 Xander has fronted the shoegaze band RunRunRun and toured the world with the likes of The Strokes, The Walkman and Psychedelic Furs and going onto headline Red Square in Moscow in 2010.

Now Xander is touring alone showcasing material as a solo artist for the first time. This show will be made even better by the other artists making up the bill. Also playing will be Rubber Bear which is the brilliant side project of Tom Chapman (New Order) and Steve Trafford (The Fall) whilst Phil Cunningham (Marion / Bad Lieutenant / New Order) will be joining both acts on stage to show off his 6 string prowess…

In the surroundings of The Blue Cat, this promises to be a blinding gig. If you can make it you should. Trust in Gigslutz judgement!
