Brian May brings ‘QUEEN in 3-D’ to 30th Hay Festival

Brian May will bring his stereoscopic masterpiece QUEEN in 3-D to life in an exclusive talk at the 30th Hay Festival on Tuesday 30 May.

Capturing the history of Queen through his own 3-D camera lenses, QUEEN in 3-D is published in hardback on 25 May by Brian’s own London Stereoscopic Company, and features over 300 personal stereo views, housed in a slipcase with lenticular 3-D front cover, together with an exclusive Brian May patent OWL 3-D viewer.

A unique opportunity to share the guitarist’s 46-year vision of his fellow band members, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Roger Taylor, as well as Brian himself backstage, on tour and onstage, the Hay Festival event will be his first public talk on the project, with 3-D glasses provided.

Brian May said: “The whole process of writing this new kind of book was almost subconscious. As I looked at the 3- D photos, memories were triggered and the stories poured out. It’s the 3-D element that makes it so evocative. I believe each image will draw readers in deeper, like me, inviting them to immerse themselves in a scene to share a previously unseen Queen moment.”

The 30th Hay Festival (25 May – 4 June), presents an inspiring programme of conversations and performances in Hay-on-Wye over the summer half-term. May joins a line-up of speakers including Colm Toíbín, Peter Singer, Neil Gaiman, Elif Shafak, Bernie Sanders, Nemat Shafik, Tracey Emin, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Graham Norton, Elizabeth Strout, Eddie Izzard, Jeanette Winterson, Howard Jacobson, Yanis Varoufakis, Paul Beatty, Carlo Rovelli, Jacqueline Wilson, Judith Kerr, and Chris Riddell, who converge for a party of ideas and stories in 800 events.

The full programme is available to view online at www.hayfestival.org with tickets on sale Friday 7 April. To order a print programme or book, please visit the website or call the box office on 01497 822 629.
