Following the success of their debut album, Megalithic Symphony, electronic rock group AWOLNATION returned from their two year tour in 2014 and got straight back in to the studio.

Run carries a similar sound to their previous material, including hits ‘Sail’ and ‘Not Your Fault’. The title track holds an intensely heavy electronic beat thats sets the rest of the album up for potential – definitely a strong opener. The second stand out song is the third track of the album, ‘Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)’; An upbeat number that showcases Bruno’s raw screaming vocals perfectly. It’s arguably one of the album favourites.

‘Jailbreak’ is a slower ballad that beams euphoric vibes, shortly followed by ‘I am’ and ‘Dreamers’, both of which continue the climatic theme of the album. ‘Headrest For My Soul’ consists of predominately acoustics, and unfortunately, compared to the rest of the album, feels like a filler track and slightly out of place.

‘Drinking Lightning’ is this albums closing track. With a vast and strong use of slow electronic brilliance, ‘Drinking Lightning’ is beautifully placed, the perfect song for an epic end to this sophomore release.

Written, recorded and produced entirely by front man Aaron Bruno, despite its few flaws, Run is a decent second offering from AWOLNATION. Definitely worth the listen.
