Bakar fronts Pretty Green X Katie Eary collaboration

British fashion designer and RCA Graduate, Katie Eary, has collaborated with the mammoth Pretty Green to create her own 16-piece capsule collection, dubbed ‘Brit Pop meets Arthouse’.  Rising indie star, Bakar, has also landed a prominent role in the visualising of the Pretty Green X Katie Eary.

Eary is an established designer predominantly known for her collaborations with subcultures such as football hooligans and the kooky world of Cybergoths.  Given the chance to produce her own imaginative designs for her Pretty Green collection, Eary decided to embark upon creating a twist on the classic paisley print the brand is notoriously known for.

“The brief for the project was for me to create a version of an existing Pretty Green print’ Says Eary on the fashion collaboration.

“…In this case, the paisley, so I chose Irvine Welsh’s book ‘Acid House’ as inspiration and decided I wanted to incoperate animals and something dark.”

The outlandish designer has created sixteen pieces for Pretty Green, including parkas, swim shorts and of course the classic bucket hat, in two extremely exceptional and exclusive prints – the Papilo print and Toria print.  Modelling these pieces both via images and promotional video as well an encapsulating the true rock and roll attitude of Pretty Green is rising indie-rock luminary, Bakar.

For fans of King Krule and early Jamie T, Baker is both a stunning singer/songwriter and a celebrated model, who has scored a role with TOPMAN on their 2017 winter music campaign.  His most recent and successful brand work, however, is, of course, the Katie Eary X Pretty Green collection.

Bakar stars in the short but insanely sweet promo video, wearing various pieces from the collaboration including the Green Toria Print Shirt (£115) and Purple Papilio Bucket Hat (£35).  The video not only produces waves of nostalgia crashing with a modern day twist but equally makes you as excited to discover more of Bakar and his sound.  Pretty Green could not have picked a better face to front this daredevil campaign.

The promo video and lookbook images were photographed by Sophie Jones with Partizan.

I’m a rock and roll girl at heart and I want to work with a company linked to this legendary music status.  I’ve done the hip-hop thing for years in my collections and I wanted to work on something that took me back to my roots and excited me.’ Says Eary

“It’s a state of mind rather than an aesthetic”.

Perhaps, once we all don the Pretty Green X Katie Eary collection, we can all be rock and roll stars?

The Pretty Green X Katie Eary collection is live now via the official Pretty Green site which can be accessed here.  See below for the official promotional video starring your new favourite artist, Bakar.  Stay tuned to hear a lot more of this London boy on Gigslutz soon.
